Focus on driving DVT/PVT validation, reliability and durability testing, supplier qualification, and scaling precision hardware for a globally deployed robot fleet.

Location: Mountain View, United States

Salary: $225K–$280K per year, plus equity

Company

hirify.global develops generalist intelligent robots across the full robotics stack, including hardware, robot systems, infrastructure, foundation world models, and manufacturing.

What you will do

  • Own the UMI device mechatronic architecture, including mechanical structures, gripper kinematics, sensor integration, and physical subsystem interfaces.
  • Drive the hardware lifecycle from concept and prototyping through DVT, PVT, and mass production.
  • Define mechanical specifications for gripper geometry, wrist kinematics, ergonomics, weight, balance, and stiffness.
  • Integrate cameras, IMUs, and fiducial marker systems, including mounting geometry, calibration fixtures, and spatial accuracy requirements.
  • Lead DFM/DFA, BOM ownership, part traceability, supplier qualification, and the transition to molded, die-cast, and machined production parts.
  • Define reliability requirements and lead design reviews, test plans, failure analysis, and cross-functional hardware decisions.

Requirements

  • Experience taking mechatronic products from prototype through mass production in robotics, consumer electronics, medical devices, wearables, or comparable precision hardware.
  • Systems-level expertise in mechanism design, sensor integration, DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, supplier management, and reliability engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with molded, die-cast, and machined parts, including direct factory collaboration.
  • Experience integrating cameras, IMUs, or encoders into precision mechanical structures.
  • Experience defining and running DVT/PVT programs, including cycle, abuse, thermal, calibration stability, and failure analysis testing.
  • Staff-level engineering judgment and technical leadership experience.

Nice to have

  • Experience with UMI-style, teleoperation, or robot data-capture hardware.
  • Familiarity with camera calibration, fiducial markers, or 6-DoF spatial tracking.
  • Experience scaling hardware from laboratory units to a globally deployed fleet.
  • Technical lead or program ownership experience on a shipped hardware product.
  • CAD experience with SolidWorks or CATIA.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time role in the Hardware department.
  • Opportunity to work across hardware development, robotics research, infrastructure, and manufacturing scale-up.
  • Equity offered in addition to base compensation.
  • Hardware is deployed across operator sites globally, requiring a focus on reliability at fleet scale.
