Forward-Deployed Implementation Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Mateo, California, with regular in-office presence

What you will do

• Own enterprise integrations from discovery and field mapping through build, user acceptance testing, and go-live.
• Manage multiple concurrent integration projects against contractual deadlines and agreed scope.
• Build, configure, and troubleshoot Workato integration flows and API issues with customer IT and internal Product and Engineering teams.
• Design data-transfer and translation logic to map customer data between ERP, CRM, and operational systems.
• Use AI tools to generate and debug code, draft mappings, produce documentation, and accelerate troubleshooting.
• Create reusable integration templates, tooling, and playbooks while partnering with Customer Success Managers on long-term adoption.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in forward-deployed, integration, solutions, or technical implementation engineering within B2B SaaS.
• Computer science or engineering degree, or equivalent hands-on experience with code, APIs, and data.
• Hands-on experience building and debugging API-based integrations using REST/JSON, authentication, webhooks, and error handling.
• Regular use of AI or LLM tools as part of the development, debugging, documentation, and troubleshooting workflow.
• Experience with an iPaaS or middleware platform, with Workato strongly preferred, and experience integrating ERP or CRM systems such as Eclipse, SAP, or Salesforce.
• Ability to manage concurrent projects against firm deadlines with strong customer-facing communication skills.

• Hands-on middleware or direct API experience with recipes, custom connectors, or on-premises agents.
• Experience at an early-stage or high-growth SaaS company.
• Background in construction, building materials, or distribution technology.
