TL;DR
RF Test Engineer (Drones): Designing and developing automated and manual test systems for drone RF subsystems and public safety products with an accent on RF validation, hardware troubleshooting, and environmental stress testing. Focus on building test fixtures and scripts, diagnosing electrical and RF issues, and validating product safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; on-site

Salary: $99K–$160K per year, plus equity

What you will do

  • Design and develop test hardware setups, fixtures, and automated testing systems for drone RF subsystems.
  • Define and execute test plans for RF subsystems and their interaction with the rest of the drone.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts and software using Python, LabVIEW, or similar tools.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and RF hardware issues and recommend design improvements.
  • Conduct environmental and stress testing to validate product durability in real-world conditions.
  • Document test procedures, results, issue resolutions, and compliance with safety and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in RF testing, preferably with UAVs, robotics, or consumer electronics.
  • Proficiency with VNAs, spectrum analyzers, wideband radio communication testers, and signal analyzers.
  • Experience with automated test development using Python, LabVIEW, or similar tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical and RF systems.
  • On-site work in Seattle, Washington is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with LTE, GNSS, and Wi-Fi.
  • Knowledge of regulatory testing and RF subsystem compliance.
  • Familiarity with antenna design.
  • Experience with PCB debugging and hardware validation methodologies.
