Coding Educator

Location: Remote - Nationwide, United States; required travel and onsite work at client, temporary, or corporate locations 20–40% of the time as business needs require.

Salary: $62,500–$119,700 annually, based on experience.

What you will do

• Develop coding curricula, training handbooks, presentations, and educational opportunities.
• Educate coders, auditors, physicians, and support staff on coding review findings, regulatory requirements, and documentation standards.
• Support coding functions by monitoring quality standards, reporting, and compliance with AMA and CMS guidelines.
• Advise providers and coders on coding questions and communicate coding changes in a timely manner.
• Lead discussions with clients on trending topics, benchmarking profiles, quality concerns, and revenue cycle improvements.
• Collaborate with medical staff, operational leadership, coding professionals, and other business functions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of coding and educational experience in professional fee coding or a consulting setting.
• Extensive professional fee coding knowledge, including inpatient and outpatient coding experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• At least one current professional certification is required: CPC, CCS-P, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CIC, or COC.
• Willingness and ability to travel by air or car 20–40% of the time and work onsite at required locations.
• Openness to innovation, including AI, and the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cardiology, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, or OB-GYN specialties.
• Knowledge of information systems, healthcare applications, databases, and report-writing software.
