Senior Counsel (Commercial & Product)

Location: Hybrid work with regular office presence in San Francisco, California

Base salary: $240,000–$260,000 per year, plus equity and discretionary performance bonuses.

A mission-driven photography technology company building an integrated workflow for photographers, including creative tools, client delivery, and business management.

What you will do

• Review, negotiate, and execute SaaS, technology, vendor, partnership, marketing, and services agreements.
• Manage contract workflows from intake through signature while balancing legal risk and business priorities.
• Advise Product, Engineering, Marketing, Brand, Finance, Operations, and Design teams on product launches, campaigns, promotions, and partnerships.
• Provide guidance on content policy, trademarks, copyrights, patents, privacy, and data protection.
• Monitor evolving privacy, AI, and platform regulations and translate developments into practical business guidance.
• Support the General Counsel with strategic initiatives, legal operations, documentation, training, and AI-enabled legal workflows.

Requirements

• J.D. degree and active U.S. bar membership required.
• Approximately 5+ years of legal experience in-house, at a law firm, or a combination of both.
• Strong commercial contracting, drafting, and negotiation experience.
• Experience partnering with cross-functional business teams in a practical, business-focused manner.
• Working knowledge of privacy and data protection principles.
• Strong judgment, communication, ownership, curiosity, and collaboration skills in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting technology or SaaS products.
• Exposure to product counseling, legal operations, or contract lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled legal tools or workflow automation.
• Interest in photography, creativity, or the creator economy.
