Software Engineer (Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Design, develop, integrate, and test software for operating quantum computing hardware.
• Analyse use cases and software issues, investigate solutions, and communicate technical decisions.
• Lead development of components and take responsibility for major features in the quantum computing software stack.
• Benchmark, profile, and optimise quantum computing processes, algorithms, and software.
• Evaluate and document systems throughout their design, development, and maintenance.
• Collaborate with electronic engineers, physicists, hardware designers, and software developers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, debugging, testing, maintaining, and profiling software using Rust, C, and C++.
• Experience designing and developing commercial-quality software, including compiler development and toolchain codebases such as LLVM or GCC.
• Experience with algorithm development, verification, and optimisation.
• Ability to write readable, high-integrity, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Familiarity with Git, collaborative development, code reviews, and pragmatic technical decision-making.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, plus experience in start-ups or dynamic work environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python and SQL or time-series databases.
• Knowledge of quantum computing concepts and experience with Qiskit.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, electronic engineering, or a related discipline.
