Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid work with office attendance required on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Annual base salary: $145,000–$180,000 USD, plus potential discretionary bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and own platform capabilities that automate investment decision-making, reporting, and analysis.
• Build reusable, scalable, and maintainable product features with a platform-first approach.
• Use AI-assisted development throughout design, coding, testing, documentation, and problem-solving with appropriate validation.
• Partner with product managers and business stakeholders to define requirements, priorities, success criteria, and measurable outcomes.
• Use observability, analytics, and user signals to create data-driven feedback loops and improve shipped capabilities.
• Lead design and code reviews, mentor engineers, coach architecture practices, and contribute to long-term technical strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 7+ years of experience with object-oriented design and development principles.
• Experience with Microsoft .NET and C#; working knowledge of Python is a plus.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted engineering across the full development lifecycle.
• Experience in Agile development environments and with continuous integration and deployment tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with automated unit and acceptance testing; TDD experience is a strong plus.

Nice to have

• Experience designing relational, non-relational, and unstructured databases using SQL Azure, Microsoft SQL Server, NoSQL solutions, or other high-performance data platforms.
• Experience working in a test-driven development environment.
