Software Development Engineer III (Geospatial)

Location: Germany; hybrid and remote options are available where applicable.

What you will do

• Build and maintain high-traffic Maps APIs, backend services, microservices, and distributed ETL pipelines.
• Lead the engineering team in identifying, scoping, and delivering well-defined tasks on time and with high quality.
• Design systems and make architectural decisions that support rapid growth in request volumes, markets, and use cases.
• Mentor engineers through 1:1s, design reviews, code reviews, pairing, and continuous technical guidance.
• Test, monitor, document, deploy, and provide on-call support for production services.
• Reduce technical debt, improve application performance, and accelerate feature delivery.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of experience building scalable, high-volume, low-latency backend services.
• Proficiency with Python, Node.js, C++, and native AWS services including CDK, ECS, Step Functions, Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, and CloudFront.
• Experience building mapping and geospatial products.
• Ability to independently execute development tasks from designs and specifications.
• Experience with GitHub or similar code versioning tools and a strong unit-testing and defect-resolution mindset.
• Analytical, communication-oriented, and collaborative approach with a commitment to documentation, mentorship, and technical excellence.
