Manager, Software Engineering (AI/ML)

Location: Hybrid, with required in-office presence in Toronto or Calgary, Canada

Salary: $140,000–$170,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead multiple software engineering delivery pods and guide architectural decisions and technical direction.
• Remove engineering blockers, facilitate cross-functional technical discussions, and support on-time, on-scope delivery.
• Manage direct reports through regular 1:1s, feedback, career development, and performance support.
• Ensure AI models and software systems are explainable, fair, auditable, and aligned with Responsible AI guidelines.
• Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes with internal stakeholders and external clients, including support for demos, technical Q&A, and pre-sales.
• Participate in engineering hiring and quarterly resource allocation across delivery pods.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a technical lead or management role.
• Experience driving architectural decisions and maintaining engineering quality in a fast-paced delivery environment.
• Experience managing and developing engineers at different levels.
• Ability to communicate technical complexity clearly with clients and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with AI/ML solutions and modern MLOps or software delivery practices.
