Engineering Manager, AI Engineering

What you will do

• Drive operational excellence and build frameworks for efficient, high-quality engineering delivery.
• Guide technical execution, assess risks and trade-offs, and partner with Tech Leads on complex initiatives.
• Coach engineers through ambiguous projects, technical decisions, ownership, and career growth.
• Foster experimentation and use data to evaluate ideas and improve engineering practices.
• Align roadmap goals with team capacity across Product, UX, and engineering leadership.
• Develop collaboration practices for a distributed team working across Canadian and Swedish time zones.

Requirements

• 3+ years managing or leading engineering teams, with experience building healthy teams, delivering results, and coaching engineers.
• Hands-on experience building applied AI/ML systems and evaluating technical decisions.
• Experience coaching Senior and Staff-level engineers with clear, actionable feedback.
• Strong technical judgment and ability to guide adaptable, maintainable solutions through complex trade-offs.
• Clear communication with engineering, Product, UX, and leadership stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience in high-stakes domains such as security, healthcare, or legal technology.
• Experience deploying AI/ML systems on-premises, at the edge, or in air-gapped environments.
• Experience building and operating scalable distributed systems.
• Familiarity with MLOps tooling, including experiment tracking, model versioning, and CI/CD for ML.
