Software Development Manager (AI)

What you will do

• Hire, build, and grow a diverse engineering team with specific depth in ML/AI.
• Drive the technical strategy and roadmap for the agentic platform, partnering with senior engineers on architecture.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, and Applied AI teams to expose capabilities through a shared agentic layer.
• Establish evaluation frameworks for AI systems focusing on quality, safety, latency, and cost.
• Ensure engineering best practices are met, including code quality, CI/CD, and observability.
• Define operational approaches in a green-field environment where procedures are not yet established.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience leading or managing software engineers and 7+ years of overall industry experience.
• Proven track record of delivering complex, production-grade AI/ML-powered products (e.g., LLM/agentic workflows).
• Working understanding of LLMs and how to evaluate AI systems.
• Strong proficiency in cloud-native architectures, APIs, CI/CD, and Agile delivery.
• Must be based in or able to work from Toronto, Canada.

Nice to have

• Experience scaling new technical competencies or standing up new teams within an organization.
• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) or agent orchestration frameworks.
• Experience with ML infrastructure (eval pipelines, feature stores) and AWS.
• Knowledge of 2D/3D visualization, CAD/BIM, or graphics technologies.
