Supplier Quality Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Based in Mojave, California, United States. Hybrid work may be considered for highly qualified Southern California candidates; the position requires significant shop-floor interaction and travel to manufacturing vendors of up to 50% or more.

Base salary: $102,000–$148,000 for the Senior level or $128,000–$186,000 for the Staff level, annually.

What you will do

• Manage supplier qualification, re-qualification, surveillance, development, and ongoing performance.
• Conduct supplier audits and assessments against hirify.global requirements and aerospace quality standards such as AS9100.
• Lead supplier nonconformance resolution, including SCARs, containment, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, effectiveness verification, and closure.
• Review and approve supplier quality plans, inspection procedures, sampling plans, and first article inspection reports.
• Coordinate source inspections and maintain supplier documentation, traceability, and regulatory compliance records.
• Collaborate with Supplier Management, Program Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Mission Operations, and external suppliers to improve quality and manufacturing effectiveness.

Requirements

• Experience with supplier quality management, supplier development, and external vendors.
• Knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949, plus aerospace industry standards.
• Experience with quality improvement and assurance tools including MSA, APQP, and CAPA.
• Senior level: bachelor’s degree and 5–10 years of engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Staff level: bachelor’s degree and 10–20 years of engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to work independently while adapting to changing priorities.

Nice to have

• Experience with statistical analysis applications such as Minitab or equivalent.
