Senior Supplier Development Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Torrance, California, United States. U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations is required for ITAR compliance.

Salary: $109K–$160K annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design and implement the first supplier quality assurance system, including documentation and workflows.
• Identify, evaluate, qualify, and audit suppliers for RF, PCBA, mechanical, and electromechanical components.
• Partner with product design and manufacturing teams on DFM, NPI, pilot builds, and production ramp-up.
• Define supplier KPIs and reporting for quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
• Resolve supplier quality issues through root cause analysis, NCR/CAPA, failure analysis, and corrective actions.
• Develop incoming inspection plans, testing protocols, technical requirements, quality flow-downs, and cost engineering initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Supplier Quality or Supplier Development roles in manufacturing.
• Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, PPAP, supplier qualification, and supplier performance management.
• Experience building or scaling quality systems in low-to-medium volume, high-complexity manufacturing environments.
• Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
• Must satisfy U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, satellite, telecommunications, or defense industries.
• Experience with RF components, PCBA, custom enclosures, and electromechanical assemblies.
• Familiarity with ERP, PLM, and digital quality management systems.
• Lean Six Sigma or other quality certifications.
• Proficiency in SQL or other data tools for supplier and quality analytics.
