TL;DR
Quality Manager (Aerospace): Owning and maturing the AS9100 Quality Management System for modular motion-control components used in industrial, aerospace, and defense programs with an accent on audits, corrective action, supplier quality, and inspection. Focus on preparing certification and production-approval milestones, including FAA and EASA requirements, while managing CUI, calibration, training, and quality metrics.

Location: Torrance, California; planned move to Hawthorne, California in summer. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents and eligible to access export-controlled technical data.

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 base salary per year plus equity.

What you will do

  • Own, maintain, and continuously improve the AS9100 Quality Management System, including procedures, work instructions, records, and the quality manual.
  • Plan and conduct internal audits, close findings, and manage external, customer, and registrar audits.
  • Lead root cause analysis, CAPA, nonconformance, and material review board activities.
  • Manage supplier quality, receiving, in-process and final inspection, source inspection, and first article inspection under AS9102.
  • Administer counterfeit-parts prevention, workmanship standards, calibration systems, measurement equipment, and gage R&R.
  • Prepare quality readiness for FAA production approvals and support EASA Part 21 and Part 145 workstreams, while reporting metrics and representing quality in program and customer reviews.

Requirements

  • U.S. Person status under ITAR and eligibility to access export-controlled technical data.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Five or more years of quality experience in aerospace, defense, or a comparable regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and hands-on ownership or significant contribution to an AS9100 QMS.
  • Experience with internal and external audits, CAPA, nonconformance, MRB, AS9102 first article inspection, and electromechanical assembly inspection.
  • Practical, floor-level approach with the ability to own quality systems in a lean, fast-moving environment.

Nice to have

  • ASQ certification such as CMQ/OE, CQE, or CQA; AS9100/AS9101 Lead Auditor certification; or Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Experience with PPAP, counterfeit-parts control under AS5553/AS6174, NIST SP 800-171, and CUI handling.
  • Strong knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards.
  • Exposure to FAA PMA, TSO, Production Certificate, EASA Part 21, Part 145, or Nadcap special-process accreditation.
