Mechanical Engineer (Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Design, build, and test thermal control systems for ion-trap quantum devices.
• Design, build, and test electronic enclosure assemblies.
• Integrate mechanical designs with laser systems and electronic designs.
• Collaborate with Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Physicists, and Quantum Engineers.
• Support project planning, scheduling, risk management, and progress reporting.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in a competitive engineering environment.
• Significant experience designing mechanical systems, thermal management systems, and electronic enclosure assemblies.
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD, including detailed part and assembly drawings.
• Experience with CAE tools for thermal and mechanical FEA, including stress and strain analysis, plus thermal and mechanical testing.
• Knowledge of material science and its limitations for vacuum and thermal systems; experience managing suppliers and contractors.
• Fluent German and English; undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Nice to have

• Experience with CFD, vacuum systems, cryogenic systems, vibrational or resonance modelling, fatigue and creep analysis.
• Experience using SolidWorks and Ansys.
