TL;DR
Materials and Process Engineer (Quantum Computing): Developing and evaluating materials and manufacturing processes for quantum computer hardware with an accent on material properties, process parameters, and production support. Focus on troubleshooting process issues, performing root cause analysis, characterizing materials, and reviewing material and process failure modes.

Location: On-site in Broomfield, Colorado, United States. Candidates must be U.S. Persons and must not be nationals of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.

Salary: $76,000–$95,000 annually

What you will do

  • Select materials and manufacturing processes based on mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties.
  • Troubleshoot process issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Document material specifications, process parameters, and test results.
  • Evaluate materials for production applications and support bill-of-material creation and change management.
  • Review designs for material and process failure modes.
  • Research, improve, and characterize materials and manufacturing processes in company laboratories and with academic and national laboratory partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in mechanical, chemical, aerospace, materials, or manufacturing engineering.
  • U.S. Person status required: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or person granted asylum or refugee status.
  • National security restrictions apply to Chinese and Russian nationals unless also a U.S. citizen.
  • Basic understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work hands-on, take initiative, and operate with limited supervision.

Nice to have

  • Experience manufacturing hardware through projects, internships, clubs, or hobbies.
  • Experience with SEM, FTIR, optical microscopy, DMM, or CMM equipment and testing methods.
  • CAD experience and familiarity with systems engineering, physics, lasers and optics, or electrical engineering.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Academic GPA of 3.0 or higher.
