is a European fusion company developing the hardware and infrastructure for commercial stellarator fusion power plants, including the Alpha and Stellaris machines.
What you will do
- Specify, design, and analyse cooling systems for cryogenic performance requirements.
- Verify model accuracy through testing protocols, simulations, and prototyping.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership during construction, commissioning, and operation of the cryogenic plant and its subsystems.
- Conduct performance analysis, testing, troubleshooting, and validation of cryogenic systems.
- Collaborate with electromagnetic, mechanical, and electrical engineers, magnet experts, and physicists.
- Lead supplier and partner work packages, including specification and co-design of cryogenic systems and procurement projects.
Requirements
- Experience designing, commissioning, and operating cryogenic hardware and systems.
- Strong modelling skills using multiphysics tools such as Simcenter Amesim and COMSOL, together with reduced-order modelling approaches.
- Experience validating cryogenic systems through simulation, testing, and prototyping.
- Ability to combine systems thinking, analysis, and hands-on technical judgement.
- Demonstrated ability to lead external work packages and manage procurement projects.
- Collaborative approach to solving complex engineering challenges and improving designs through iteration.
