Senior Accountant

Location: Remote, based in Montreal, Canada

What you will do

• Support month-end close and preparation of timely, accurate financial statements.
• Record and reconcile expenses, accruals, prepaids, billing activity, and other accounting transactions.
• Apply accounting standards for prepaids, leases under ASC 842, revenue under ASC 606, fixed assets, and debt.
• Manage the Brex expense platform, including employee expense reconciliation, onboarding, spend limits, and budgets.
• Analyze accounts, identify trends and discrepancies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on expense allocation.
• Prepare audit documentation and reconciliations and file quarterly Commercial Rent Tax returns.

Requirements

• CPA qualification.
• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• Experience with prepaids, lease accounting, revenue, fixed assets, and debt.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations; U.S. GAAP preferred.
• Strong Excel proficiency and experience with accounting software or ERP systems; NetSuite preferred.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting a multi-location or multi-entity business.
• Familiarity with Claude/Anthropic and ChatGPT for improving accounting workflows.
