TL;DR
Global Trade Compliance Manager (ITAR/EAR): Managing import and export compliance for a defense technology manufacturer with an accent on export licensing, jurisdiction classifications, technology transfer controls, and regulatory oversight. Focus on building standardized compliance processes, screening denied parties, supporting audits and investigations, and advising engineering and senior leadership on controlled technical data.
Location: Hybrid position in Torrance, California, United States, with a minimum of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.
Salary: $129,600–$165,200 USD annually for roles hired in California.

is a high-growth technology company developing software-defined defense systems, including the Leonidas power management platform, for national security applications.
What you will do
- Manage the import and export compliance program across ITAR, EAR, U.S. Customs, OFAC, and other trade regulations.
- Draft export licenses, authorizations, technology transfer plans, and written jurisdiction classifications for commodities and technical data.
- Develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, standard processes, and operational checklists.
- Oversee denied-party screening, internal investigations, audits, and the use of systems containing export-controlled technical data.
- Monitor regulatory changes, deliver employee training, and advise senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineering on jurisdiction classifications supporting new product development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- 5–7 years of import/export compliance experience, preferably in defense or manufacturing.
- Extensive knowledge of ITAR, EAR, and OFAC regulations, plus basic knowledge of import regulations.
- Demonstrated export licensing experience and experience with U.S. government systems including DECCS and SNAP-R.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under ITAR.
- Regular onsite presence is required for at least 3 days per week.
Nice to have
- U.S. Customs Broker License, CUSECO, or another industry certification.
- Master’s or other graduate-level degree.
- Knowledge of lean process improvement, Agile systems, OCR-EASE, or related tools.
- Strong communication, administrative, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
