TL;DR
ITAR Specialist (Export Compliance): Managing ITAR and EAR compliance for defense-related FPGA products, technical data, and services with an accent on export licensing, classification, and controlled-data protection. Focus on preparing TAAs and DSP forms, conducting audits, delivering compliance training, and advising cross-functional teams on U.S. export-control requirements.

Location: San Jose, California, United States

Salary: $142.6K–$206.5K USD annually for the Bay Area of California.

What you will do

  • Manage and maintain the ITAR and EAR export-compliance program.
  • Review, classify, and track technical data, products, and technology subject to U.S. export-control laws.
  • Prepare and manage export licenses, Technical Assistance Agreements, DSP forms, and related documentation.
  • Advise Legal, Engineering, Supply Chain, Security, and Program Management teams on export-control requirements.
  • Develop ITAR training and new-hire compliance onboarding.
  • Conduct internal assessments, audits, corrective-action planning, and regulatory-update reviews.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required under ITAR.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Relations, Law, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 8+ years of experience with ITAR, EAR, and export-compliance programs in technology, defense, semiconductor, aerospace, or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. export-control laws, classification processes, encryption controls, and technical-data handling.
  • Experience with DECCS, SNAP-R, or similar export-licensing systems.
  • Strong communication, documentation, auditing, and cross-functional advisory skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with semiconductor or programmable-logic device technologies.
  • Prior experience in a Defense Industrial Base environment.
  • Compliance certifications such as C|ECP, EXIM, or similar.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity controls for ITAR-restricted data.
