Head of Strategic Finance

Location: New York, hybrid; primarily hiring in the San Francisco and New York offices. Remote hiring may be available in some cases.

Salary: $180K–$270K plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead strategic finance projects covering pricing, capital allocation, new products, and go-to-market decisions.
• Own discrete areas of the operating model, including revenue planning and long-range plans.
• Build investment analyses with clear cost, return, and trade-off assessments.
• Model sales compensation structures, accelerators, commissions, and payout curves.
• Own funnel analytics and SaaS metrics including conversion, marketing ROI, CAC, payback, retention, gross margin, and unit economics.
• Build the AI-native finance stack, support ERP and accounting migrations, and coordinate international consolidations with the data team.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience across investment banking, private equity, and high-growth startup finance.
• Expertise in Excel and driver-based financial modeling using investment banking best practices.
• Hands-on experience building or automating real finance workflows with AI.
• Strong understanding of SaaS metrics, unit economics, payback, LTV/CAC, burn multiple, and net retention.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write for the board.
• Ability to lead cross-functional work, take ownership of ambiguous problems, and deliver recommendations independently.

Nice to have

• MBA from a top program.
• Experience implementing NetSuite, Campfire, Rillet, or a comparable ERP or accounting system.
• SQL and BI experience with tools such as Looker, Hex, or Sigma, plus modern planning software such as Pigment or Anaplan.
• International multi-entity experience, including consolidations.
• Experience with fundraising, SaaS, fintech, payments, tax, or subscription and usage-based revenue models.
