Head of Finance (AI)

Location: San Francisco, onsite; SF-based or willing to relocate to join the in-person rhythm near Alamo Square.

Salary: $200,000–$300,000 base salary per year, plus meaningful equity.

What you will do

• Build FP&A, accounting, treasury, controls, and the broader finance function from scratch.
• Own the financial model, budgeting, forecasting, planning cycles, and variance analysis.
• Analyze usage-based AI economics, including cost-to-serve, GPU and inference COGS, and gross margin.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, burn, runway, monthly close, books, tax partners, and controls.
• Lead board and investor materials, fundraising data-room preparation, and diligence.
• Partner with Product and GTM on pricing, packaging, monetization, and the finance team build-out.

Requirements

• 9+ years across strategic finance, FP&A, and/or accounting, including experience at a high-growth startup.
• Experience as the senior-most finance leader or a strong second-in-command ready to own the function.
• Experience building financial models, planning processes, or finance functions from a blank page.
• Strong three-statement modeling, financial analysis, and data literacy; SQL or BI experience is a plus.
• Understanding of usage-based or consumption business models and COGS-heavy economics.
• Must be based in San Francisco or willing to relocate to San Francisco for onsite work.

Nice to have

• Experience with open-source, developer-tools, creator-tools, AI, infrastructure, or compute businesses.
• Finance partnership experience through Seed, Series A, or Series B fundraising.
• Familiarity with AI creative tools or hirify.global.
