Lead, Strategic Finance (AI)

Location: San Francisco, on-site. Candidates must be San Francisco-based or willing to relocate to join the in-person work rhythm.

Salary: $150,000–$225,000 base annually, plus meaningful equity. Relocation support for San Francisco is provided.

What you will do

• Build and own the company’s three-statement financial model, budget, and forecast from scratch.
• Run FP&A, including budgeting, forecasting, planning cadence, variance analysis, and recommendations.
• Analyze usage-based unit economics, including cost-to-serve, GPU and inference COGS, gross margin, retention, and expansion.
• Pull financial data, build KPI dashboards, and convert messy datasets into actionable insights.
• Model pricing, hiring, compute spending, and new business scenarios.
• Support fundraising and board materials, partner with GTM and Product on monetization, and manage cash, runway, and outsourced accounting and payroll partners.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, private equity, consulting, or a high-growth startup finance team.
• Ability to build rigorous three-statement models and provide fast, well-structured financial analyses.
• Strong data fluency and the ability to independently obtain answers; SQL or BI experience is a plus.
• Understanding of usage-based or consumption business models and COGS-heavy economics.
• Experience building functions or processes from 0 to 1, with willingness to own both strategic and operational finance.
• San Francisco location or willingness to relocate for in-person work is required.

• Experience with open-source, developer-tools, or creator-tools companies.
• Experience supporting a fundraise through financial models and metrics.
• Experience establishing an FP&A or strategic finance function from scratch.
• Familiarity with Comfy or AI creative tools.
