Senior Software Engineer (Java/Fintech)

Location: São Paulo, Brazil; hybrid with an expectation of working onsite 3 days per week

What you will do

• Build ultra-high-volume, low-latency transaction engines for the Cards Platform.
• Design distributed, fault-tolerant ledger systems capable of handling millions of peak daily transactions.
• Improve high availability, resilience, chaos engineering, and observability across core banking services.
• Collaborate with Staff Engineers and Product Managers to align LatAm business needs with global technical roadmaps.
• Mentor the São Paulo engineering hub and document architectural decisions.

Requirements

• Deep professional experience with Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem.
• Experience designing and operating complex distributed backend systems and microservices at high volume.
• Hands-on experience with major cloud providers, ideally AWS, including high availability, multi-region deployments, and database optimization.
• Strong Kubernetes/EKS, Terraform/Terragrunt, and GitOps experience.
• Experience mentoring engineers, leading technical discovery, and reaching consensus on complex system designs.
• Fluent English required for collaboration with global engineering squads.

Nice to have

• Experience with card issuing, acquiring, ledger engines, Pix, or banking compliance such as BACEN regulations.
• Experience with Datadog or similar observability tools and cloud cost optimization.
• Knowledge of event sourcing, consistency models, distributed locks, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
