CNC Machinist Setup & Operation – LATHE (Robotics)

Location: Future Factory; on-site. Applicants must meet U.S. Government export control eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residency, refugee or asylee status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.

Salary: Level 1 $25–$32/hour; Level 2 $32–$40/hour. Overtime may be offered during peak build cycles.

What you will do

• Set up and operate 2-axis CNC lathes for precision manufacturing.
• Edit and optimize OKUMA G-code programs and perform machine-level troubleshooting.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD/CAM models, and GD&T requirements to develop machining strategies.
• Prepare soft jaws, collets, pie jaws, tooling, offsets, and first-article parts.
• Inspect parts after each operation and maintain print mark-ups, programs, setup sheets, and tool lists.
• Optimize tooling, speeds, feeds, and tool life while supporting shop maintenance, assembly, cleanliness, and teammate mentoring.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of CNC machining experience.
• Above-average knowledge of 2-axis CNC turning; multi-axis exposure is encouraged.
• Proficiency with OKUMA OSP controls and G-code, or willingness to learn.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted and perform frequent standing, bending, grasping, and pulling.
• Must satisfy U.S. Government export control eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience.
• Expertise in boring, grooving, threading, drilling, complex turning contours, and aerospace-style applications.
• Experience with aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, plastics, and related materials.
• Process optimization, mentoring, and shop project leadership experience.
