Optical R&D Manager (Quantum Computing)

Location: US Broomfield, CO; on-site

Salary: $180,000–$225,000 annually, inclusive of bonus target

What you will do

• Manage engineers and scientists developing optical systems, assembly tooling, and metasurface or diffractive fabrication for quantum computers.
• Collaborate on photonic roadmaps, technology development, and advanced R&D activities.
• Guide optical R&D projects from concept through production release.
• Mentor, coach, and support the career development of direct-reporting technical staff.
• Establish R&D best practices, quality standards, and requirements compliance.
• Identify technologies, infrastructure, and resources needed to expand optical development capabilities and recruit high-performing staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• At least 8 years of industry experience developing optical systems from concept to production.
• At least 3 years of experience managing technical teams.
• Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to U.S. Government national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.
• Experience with optical projects from concept through production.

Nice to have

• Master’s or Ph.D. in optics, applied physics, or a related field.
• Experience with optical alignment, assembly, testing, micro-optic and fiber-optic systems.
• Experience with metasurface design and fabrication, optical tooling, production transitions, and engineering trade studies.
• Experience with UV-to-infrared wavelengths and teams distributed across geographic locations.
• Experience with Zemax, Code V, LighTools, FRED, or CAD software.
