Director of Open-Source Software (Quantum Computing)

Location: Cambridge, UK; hybrid, full-time, permanent

Salary: £125,000–£150,000 per year, depending on experience, plus bonus and equity

hirify.global develops quantum error correction technology and partners with quantum hardware providers and government agencies to advance fault-tolerant quantum computing.

What you will do

• Set the direction for hirify.global’s open-source software efforts and identify components suitable for community use.
• Lead the teams developing Deltakit, an open SDK for analysis tools, simulators, visualizers, and core components.
• Set product priorities and technical direction in collaboration with the product team and business stakeholders.
• Support internal developers and engage with the global developer and quantum-computing communities.
• Identify opportunities to amplify internal work by building software accessible to the wider ecosystem.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading large, impactful open-source projects with significant technical or scientific complexity.
• Excellent software development skills in Python and C++.
• Understanding of compilers, simulators, analysis tools, or programming languages.
• Experience working with developer ecosystems, preferably as an open-source maintainer.
• Strong communication and team leadership experience.
• Membership in open-source groups.

Nice to have

• Good understanding of quantum computing.
• PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline from a top university.
• Experience organising open-source groups.
