Head of Manufacturing (Aerospace)

Location: San Francisco (Onsite, 5 days per week)

Compensation: $200,000 – $250,000

What you will do

• Lead the manufacturing function, building the people, processes, and capabilities for rapid prototyping of airframe and propulsion hardware.
• Own manufacturing strategy, ensuring alignment between design intent, manufacturability, cost, and schedule.
• Partner with engineering teams to drive build-aware design decisions and provide constructive pushback on complexity and risk.
• Establish and scale in-house manufacturing capabilities, including machine shops, composites, tooling, and assembly.
• Build and lead a multidisciplinary team, setting high standards for technical excellence and accountability.
• Develop robust processes for quality, traceability, and configuration control that support rapid iteration.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in aerospace or complex hardware-driven environments.
• Must be able to work onsite in San Francisco five days a week.
• Deep expertise in precision machining, fabrication, and propulsion systems.
• Strong background in airframe structures, composites, or large integrated assemblies.
• Proven leadership in building teams and capabilities in high-mix, low-volume environments.
• Demonstrated ability to influence cost and schedule across programs.
