Platform Engineering Manager (AWS)

Location: Remote in the United States; on-call escalation coverage is required.

Salary: $140,000–$175,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, hire, onboard, and develop a team of platform engineers while managing performance and priorities.
• Stay hands-on with architecture decisions, Infrastructure as Code, code reviews, and complex infrastructure problems.
• Shape the platform roadmap and balance reliability, cost, security, developer experience, tooling, and team capacity.
• Guide AWS cloud deployments and platform evolution using automation, Terraform, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, and Helm.
• Enable observability, automation, and integration points for AIOps, including intelligent monitoring, automated remediation, and self-healing.
• Partner with Platform Operations, product, security, and engineering teams on SLOs, incident response, post-mortems, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 8+ years of platform engineering experience and 2+ years leading or mentoring platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE teams with hiring and performance-management responsibility.
• Extensive hands-on Kubernetes administration at scale, including ArgoCD, Helm, and cluster lifecycle management.
• Expert proficiency with Terraform, Infrastructure as Code frameworks, reusable modules, CI/CD, and GitOps workflows.
• Deep AWS expertise across networking, compute, storage, security, and cloud-native containerization.
• Working knowledge of observability, internal developer platform patterns, and security/IAM principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus availability for on-call escalation coverage.

Nice to have

• Experience with AIOps, ML-driven observability, intelligent alerting, automated remediation, or predictive scaling.
• Healthcare SaaS or other regulated-environment experience.
• Experience designing internal developer platforms or X-as-a-Service offerings.
• FinOps or cloud-cost awareness and experience leading employee and contractor teams.
• AWS Solutions Architect Professional, CKA, or CKAD certification.
