Staff Manufacturing Engineer, Production Systems (Robotics)

Location: Onsite at the Santa Clara, CA headquarters. Relocation stipend available for candidates relocating to Santa Clara who currently live more than 50 miles from the office. Occasional travel is required.

Annual base salary: $205,000–$240,000, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Architect the end-to-end build sequence and work instructions for a new robot production line.
• Define the fixture and tooling design philosophy, including decisions on what to design or purchase.
• Connect build-floor operations with hardware engineering by identifying difficult-to-build designs and driving alternatives to completion.
• Run process FMEA for new and changed build steps.
• Establish root-cause analysis and defect-closure systems using methods such as 5-Why and fishbone analysis.
• Define production metrics, conduct time studies, identify bottlenecks, and measure cycle time, first-pass yield, and scrap.

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience in manufacturing, process, or production engineering for electromechanical hardware such as robotics, consumer electronics, medical devices, or automotive products.
• Direct experience launching a new production line or NPI process, preferably in a low-to-mid-volume environment with active product iteration.
• Strong judgment in fixture and jig design, with fluency in DFM and DFA principles.
• Experience influencing hardware engineering decisions and analyzing production data and metrics.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment.
• Must have and maintain US work authorization.

Nice to have

• Experience in both contract manufacturing or EMS and in-house build environments.
• CAD proficiency for fixture design and familiarity with rapid prototyping using 3D printing, laser cutting, or basic machining.
• Experience mentoring or setting technical direction for process or manufacturing engineers.
