Program Element Lead - Fusion Systems (Fusion Energy): Define, plan, and deliver a hundred-million- to billion-dollar fusion engineering program from concept through completion with an accent on system architecture, technical program delivery, procurement, and plant integration. Focus on leading matrixed engineering teams, maturing designs from concept through commissioning, managing nuclear safety and regulatory compliance, and controlling budget, schedule, and program risk.

Location: Denver, CO; full-time onsite role based at the headquarters

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 per year

What you will do

  • Define, plan, and execute a hundred-million- to billion-dollar-class fusion engineering program from concept through completion.
  • Lead matrixed engineering, science, and operations teams while maintaining technical integrity and quality standards.
  • Direct fusion system architecture covering the chamber, blanket, and supporting systems through requirements definition, design, delivery, and plant integration.
  • Manage procurement and vendors for long-lead, critical-path system components.
  • Lead the transition from conceptual design through detailed design, fabrication, construction, assembly, and commissioning.
  • Manage budgets, resources, schedules, risks, performance reporting, and collaboration with safety, licensing, regulatory, and senior leadership stakeholders.

Requirements

  • BS in physics, nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience leading large, complex programs in nuclear or other engineering-intensive environments.
  • Experience guiding large technical teams through all phases of program delivery and maturing technology readiness levels from concept through prototype.
  • Familiarity with power extraction systems, safety basis development, and nuclear safety design and construction frameworks.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a core engineering discipline such as nuclear, aerospace, power, or mechanical engineering.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering field.
  • Experience designing and constructing one-of-a-kind prototype systems in a nuclear environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks for high-value engineering projects and NRC regulations.
