Test Engineer – Space Solar

Location: Los Angeles (Hawthorne), California, United States; onsite with occasional travel

Salary: $110,000–$150,000 per year plus equity

hirify.global develops and manufactures robotic systems and infrastructure for producing water, power, and oxygen on the Moon and Mars, including space solar power systems.

What you will do

• Plan and execute test programs for space solar hardware, from cell-level electrical characterization through panel and array environmental testing.
• Build and operate test stands, fixtures, and data acquisition systems for electrical, thermal, mechanical, and environmental tests.
• Run thermal vacuum, thermal cycling, vibration, shock, and humidity test campaigns, including setup, execution, and post-test data review.
• Perform LIV/flash testing, electroluminescence imaging, dark IV analysis, and degradation analysis.
• Investigate test failures and anomalies in collaboration with design and manufacturing engineering.
• Write test procedures and qualification reports, while improving hardware testability and simplifying verification setups.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or materials engineering, physics, or a related discipline.
• At least one year of hardware test engineering experience; internships and academic research are applicable.
• Hands-on experience with test instrumentation and data acquisition.
• Proficiency with LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, or equivalent tools for data acquisition and analysis.
• Must satisfy U.S. Government export-control requirements: U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, qualifying refugee or asylee, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience testing photovoltaic hardware, especially multi-junction III-V or perovskite cells for space or high-reliability applications.
• Experience operating solar simulators and interpreting LIV/flash test data.
• Experience with environmental test campaigns, aerospace test standards, and test fixture or stand design.
• Exposure to aerospace, space, or other high-reliability hardware environments.
