Senior Test Engineer – Space Solar Hardware

Location: Los Angeles (Hawthorne), California, United States. Occasional travel required.

Salary: $145,000–$180,000 annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end test programs for space solar hardware, from cell-level characterization through panel and array qualification.
• Define test strategies, requirements, acceptance criteria, procedures, plans, and qualification reports.
• Design and establish test stands, fixtures, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems for electrical, thermal, mechanical, and environmental testing.
• Lead thermal vacuum, thermal cycling, vibration, shock, and humidity qualification campaigns, including readiness reviews and post-test analysis.
• Execute LIV/flash testing, electroluminescence imaging, dark IV analysis, and degradation investigations.
• Lead root-cause investigations, improve hardware testability, and mentor test engineers and technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, materials, physics, or a related engineering or science discipline.
• 6+ years of hardware test engineering experience with ownership of programs from planning through execution and reporting.
• Experience running qualification or acceptance campaigns on production or flight hardware.
• Experience leading technical work across design, manufacturing, and quality teams.
• Must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylee status, or eligibility to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience testing photovoltaic hardware, particularly multi-junction III-V solar cells for space or high-reliability applications.
• Experience with solar simulators, LIV/flash data, electroluminescence imaging, dark IV analysis, and aerospace test standards.
• Strong data acquisition and analysis skills with LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, or equivalent.
• Experience designing precision test fixtures, performing statistical or life analysis, and mentoring test engineers or technicians.
