Senior Propulsion Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: San Francisco, United States; in-office five days per week

What you will do

• Lead conceptual trade studies for novel combustors while evaluating system-level impacts.
• Complete detailed combustion-system designs supported by structural, thermal, and fluid analyses.
• Apply advanced materials, coatings, joining methods, and manufacturing techniques to improve performance and reliability at scale.
• Assemble prototypes, design tooling, and establish work instructions.
• Conduct hardware tests, select instrumentation, analyze data, and verify requirements and performance metrics.
• Diagnose hardware failures, determine corrective actions, and iterate through component-level and integrated testing.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing combustion devices for propulsion or similarly complex environments.
• Expertise in airbreathing combustors, igniters, and fuel systems.
• Proficiency in Siemens NX solid-body and surface modeling, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid behavior, and high-temperature materials.
• Hands-on prototype assembly and test-stand experience, including data acquisition and instrumentation selection.
• Experience with root-cause analysis of hardware failures and continuous improvement in fast-paced environments.
