Supplier Quality Engineer (Automotive)

Location: United States; on-site workplace. Up to 20% domestic travel is required, occasionally on short notice.

Salary: $137,000–$164,000 per year base salary, plus potential RSUs, stock appreciation rights, and sign-on bonus.

Zoox develops prototype and production vehicle systems through its Vehicle Development engineering organization.

What you will do

• Assess the manufacturability of new vehicle product designs with Vehicle Systems Engineering.
• Audit and assess suppliers, support supplier selection, and review CAD models and engineering drawings for manufacturability.
• Lead supplier industrialization roadmaps, product and process development, capability assessments, and tooling and fixture qualification.
• Manage APQP activities from design through PPAP and start of production, including supplier readiness for vehicle build events.
• Lead RCCA investigations, corrective actions, containment, and supplier process documentation updates.
• Analyze incoming supplier quality metrics, including FAI reports, Cp/Cpk, Pareto analysis, SPC, and process capability studies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
• At least 6 years of experience in quality, supplier quality, or manufacturing in automotive, aviation, or medical device industries.
• Experience with process flow diagrams, process FMEAs, control plans, SPC, MSA, process capability, APQP, and PPAP.
• Experience with extrusions, castings, machining, mechanical assemblies, inspection, CMM data, GD&T, and tooling and fixture validation.
• Knowledge of ISO 9000, IATF 16949, NPI, supplier assessments, product launches, and vendor ramp-up.
• Experience with Six Sigma, 8D, regression analysis, ANOVA, DOE, Fishbone Analysis, or Red-X problem-solving methods.
