Supplier Quality Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: In-person work four days per week at the Long Beach, California or Denver, Colorado office. U.S. work authorization is required under ITAR regulations, and the role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Base salary: $85,000–$130,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the Supplier Corrective Action Request process from issuance through root-cause analysis, corrective action, and effectiveness verification.
• Lead RCCA investigations for supplier escapes and yield issues using 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, and 8D methodologies.
• Build supplier quality data and statistical trending for defect rates, PPM, Cp/Cpk, and first-pass yield.
• Apply SPC, Gage R&R, and measurement system analysis to assess supplier process capability and control.
• Create and disposition non-conformance reports, coordinating rework, repair, use-as-is, and scrap decisions with engineering.
• Audit supplier quality systems, review inspection data, approve PPAP/FAIR packages, and visit supplier sites for audits and corrective-action verification.

Requirements

• 3+ years of supplier quality or quality engineering experience, including ownership of RCCA and SCAR activity through closure.
• Experience with machining, sheet metal/fabrication, PCB/PCBA assembly, wire harnesses, or electro-mechanical assembly.
• Working fluency with SPC, Cp/Cpk, Gage R&R/MSA, and DOE, with the ability to make data-driven quality decisions.
• Experience with NCR disposition, PPAP/FAIR review, and use-as-is, rework, and scrap decisions.
• Proficiency reading engineering drawings and applying GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Nice to have

• Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification, or formal training in statistical quality methods.
• Experience with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems and supplier auditing.
• Background in aerospace, defense, or another regulated industry.
• Experience building supplier quality data systems or scorecards from scratch.
