Senior Manufacturing Engineer (CNC Programmer)

Location: Mojave, California, United States; onsite position. Travel is estimated at less than 5%, with occasional overtime, weekend, and off-shift production support as required.

Salary: $117,000–$153,500 per year, depending on leveling, location, education, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Develop, verify, release, and optimize CNC programs for flight hardware, development hardware, prototypes, tooling, fixtures, and rework.
• Program 3-axis, 3+1, 3+2, simultaneous 5-axis, CNC turning, and live-tool machining using Mastercam and Haas or FANUC controls.
• Establish machining processes, operation sequences, setup strategies, tooling, workholding, probing, inspection approaches, and operator instructions.
• Support the launch and development of the internal machine shop, including first-piece setup, program prove-out, First Article Inspection, and production ramp-up.
• Improve machining quality, cycle time, tool life, repeatability, machine utilization, and unattended production capability.
• Collaborate with machinists, engineering, quality, planning, procurement, production leadership, and external suppliers on capacity, schedules, and make-versus-buy decisions.

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on CNC machining and programming experience, including complete process development from released engineering data through production prove-out.
• Advanced knowledge of multi-axis machining, cutting tools, workholding, simulation, CNC controls, speeds and feeds, and material behavior.
• Demonstrated experience developing and proving out complex 3-axis and 5-axis CNC programs.
• Experience interpreting CAD models, engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, and model-based definition requirements.
• Advanced Mastercam proficiency, including multi-axis programming, verification, and machine simulation; experience with Haas, FANUC, or comparable controls.
• Bachelor’s degree and 5–10 years of engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.

Nice to have

• Aerospace, defense, spaceflight, or other high-reliability manufacturing experience.
• Active security clearance.
• Experience with CNC turning, live-tool or Y-axis turning, mill-turn equipment, palletized systems, probing, tool-life monitoring, or lights-out machining.
• Experience machining Inconel, titanium, tungsten, thin-wall parts, composites, or other challenging materials.
• Experience with NX, SolidWorks, NX CAM, Teamcenter, Jira, fixture design, or manufacturing-model development.
