Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Machining)

Location: Torrance, California, United States. ITAR eligibility required: U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.

Salary: $100,000–$175,000 per year, plus equity and potential performance bonuses.

What you will do

• Own the roadmap for establishing and scaling the internal machine shop, including capability definition, equipment selection, procurement, and commissioning.
• Evaluate and purchase CNC machines, workholding, tooling, metrology, and material-handling equipment.
• Coordinate machine delivery, rigging, utilities, installation, acceptance testing, and maintenance planning.
• Design shop layouts, workflows, safety standards, material flow, tool control, inspection flow, and chip/coolant management.
• Design and validate machining fixtures and workholding while creating CAM programs, setups, tool lists, inspection plans, and standardized work.
• Operate machines as needed to prove processes, debug programs, and support development and production.

Requirements

• 4–6+ years of experience with machined components in manufacturing engineering, CNC programming, CNC machining, or a related role.
• Experience designing fixtures and workholding and bringing repeatable machining processes into production.
• Strong CAM programming experience with tools such as Fusion, Mastercam, or NX CAM.
• Practical knowledge of feeds and speeds, tooling, and machining setup strategy.
• Comfort working hands-on on the shop floor, proving out programs, debugging issues, and iterating quickly.
• Must meet applicable U.S. Government ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience selecting and commissioning CNC mills or lathes, including 3-, 4-, or 5-axis equipment.
• CAD proficiency for fixturing and tooling design, such as Siemens NX.
• Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, CMM, probing, and inspection planning.
• Experience developing standardized work, work instructions, and operator training programs.
