VP of Quantum Software Engineering

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and development strategy for the full software stack, including applications, compilers, runtimes, cloud APIs, and low-level quantum processor control.
• Direct compiler architecture, algorithms, and real-time compiler logic for high-fidelity qubit shuttling and dynamic connectivity.
• Own the software strategy for hybrid quantum-classical computing and integrate CPU/GPU clusters with quantum processing units.
• Collaborate with quantum architecture, silicon, and cryo-CMOS teams on system co-design and software-driven qubit performance.
• Support scalable quantum error correction, decoding, logical qubit virtualization, and fault-tolerant quantum computing.
• Develop simulation and modeling tools to evaluate the performance and reliability of fault-tolerant systems.

Requirements

• 10+ years of commercial software engineering experience, including significant engineering leadership experience.
• Deep knowledge of quantum computing, quantum hardware, quantum algorithms, quantum error correction, and fault-tolerant computing.
• Experience with error correction and decoding, error modeling, logical gate design, magic state distillation, lattice surgery, and fault-tolerant gate compilation.
• Experience with quantum software tools such as Qiskit, Cirq, or TKET, and comprehensive knowledge of LLVM or a similar compilation framework.
• Programming experience with Python or similar languages and classical programming languages such as C++.
• Advanced degree, preferably a PhD, in Computer Science, Quantum Computing, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Leadership experience in a quantum hardware or software startup or a major technology company's quantum division.
• Expertise in dynamic architectures, qubit shuttling, and software requirements for quantum error-correction decoding.
• Experience with machine learning algorithms.
