Senior Metrology Engineer (Fusion Energy)

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; on-site

Salary: $110,000–$185,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Select, develop, maintain, and improve measurement systems and metrology equipment.
• Develop non-destructive measurement methods for challenging environments.
• Create SOPs and workflows for sample measurement.
• Train staff and technicians through written and verbal instruction.
• Develop and use laboratory information management systems and manufacturing execution systems.
• Collaborate with R&D staff, process engineers, technicians, internal customers, vendors, and metrology service providers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as materials science, electrical engineering, or physics, or equivalent industrial experience.
• 7+ years of experience as a process or metrology engineer.
• Thorough understanding of optical and electron microscopy, surface probe measurements, optical and NIR probes, and x-ray measurements.
• Experience working with metrology vendors and directing metrology service providers.
• Ability to create work instructions, provide training, work independently, and collaborate effectively.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work around industrial hazards, and occasionally work nights, weekends, on-call shifts, or compressed work-week schedules.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or Ph.D.
• Experience in semiconductor, battery, solar-cell, optoelectronics, or related fields.
• Experience with high-uptime systems.
