TL;DR
Propulsion Technician (Hypersonic Flight): Building, testing, and maintaining fluid systems, rocket engines, and propulsion systems for reusable hypersonic flight vehicles with an accent on high-pressure gas, cryogenic, and liquid or hybrid rocket systems. Focus on troubleshooting complex fluid and gas systems, interpreting P&IDs, fabricating and assembling hardware, and maintaining safe field operations.

Location: Mojave, California, United States; onsite

Salary: $31.65–$42.00 per hour for Level I or $38.50–$48.50 per hour for Level II

What you will do

  • Build and maintain fluid systems for propellants, high-pressure gases, and cryogenic applications.
  • Work with engineers to build, test, and maintain rocket engines and propulsion-related hardware.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain low- and high-pressure fluid and gas systems.
  • Support propulsion systems for liquid and hybrid rocket engines used in hypersonic flight vehicles.
  • Operate or learn to operate forklifts, all-terrain forklifts, overhead equipment, and other heavy machinery.
  • Apply hands-on problem solving in field-based operations while maintaining a safety-first work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • Experience safely working with high-pressure gas systems and building and testing high-pressure fluid or gas systems.
  • Ability to read and understand Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Tube fitting and bending experience, including familiarity with common industrial fitting systems.
  • Metal fabrication, benchwork layout, GD&T, general shop equipment, and systems assembly skills.
  • Level I requires 0–5 years of relevant experience; Level II requires 5–10+ years or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice to have

  • Rocket systems or test experience.
  • Liquid oxygen and cryogenic systems handling and maintenance experience.
  • LOX systems cleaning and clean-room experience.
  • Airframe and Powerplant License.
