TL;DR
Propulsion Engineer (II - III) (Aerospace): Designing, building, and testing propulsion systems for advanced satellites and space-based interceptors with an accent on propulsion hardware, fluid system analysis, and flight-system maturation. Focus on hot-fire and cold-flow testing, pressurization and propellant systems, multidisciplinary vehicle integration, and delivering reliable systems from concept through flight.

Location: Onsite near Centennial, CO or Long Beach, CA; U.S. work authorization required under ITAR regulations

Base salary: $95,000–$165,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Design, analyze, and optimize propulsion systems and components for advanced satellites and interceptors.
  • Mature propulsion systems from concept through flight while meeting performance and reliability requirements.
  • Develop, review, and release engineering models, drawings, P&IDs, and equipment lists.
  • Collaborate with structural, mechanical, thermal, and avionics engineers to manage interfaces and validate designs.
  • Support propulsion and vehicle-level ground test campaigns, identify technical risks, and present designs to suppliers and customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience for level II or 5 years for level III.
  • Demonstrated experience with propulsion hardware such as rocket engines, thrusters, valves, pumps, tanks, orifices, or similar systems.
  • Experience with hot-fire testing, cold-flow testing, vehicle-level propulsion checkouts, and propellant loading.
  • Experience designing and analyzing fluid systems, including pressurization sizing, water hammer analysis, pressure budgets, FMECA, and FDIR architecture.
  • Ability to work onsite near Centennial, Colorado or Long Beach, California and meet U.S. Government ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Launch or space vehicle development and production experience.
  • Project leadership experience and familiarity with the full vehicle lifecycle.
  • Experience designing valves, propellant tanks, thrusters, engines, spacecraft structures, mechanisms, ground support equipment, or test equipment.
  • Experience solving complex mechanical design problems in dynamic environments.
