Lead Physicist – Apollo Integration and Verification (Quantum Computing)

Salary: $164,000–$205,000 annually, inclusive of bonus target

What you will do

• Apply operational experience with trapped-ion quantum computers to shape next-generation commercial system designs.
• Improve system reliability, usability, serviceability, manufacturability, and performance through system-level design decisions.
• Define requirements for monitoring, diagnostics, automation, and software orchestration.
• Operate and characterize prototype and production quantum computing systems, designing experiments to evaluate performance.
• Analyze experimental data and review hardware designs, software implementations, and engineering documentation.
• Support system bring-up, first-article builds, customer deployments, and the transition of technologies into manufacturing and operations.

Requirements

• PhD completed before the start date, with 8+ years of directly applicable experience including the PhD period.
• Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to U.S. Government national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of the People's Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.
• Experience with trapped-ion quantum computers, cold atom systems, or related quantum computing hardware.
• Experience programming experimental control systems for data collection, signal processing, and data analysis.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including published research results.

Nice to have

• PhD in physics or a related field with a background in cold atom physics.
• Experience building trapped-ion or cold atom hardware systems.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills, including experience working with customers and partners.
