Staff Analytics Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Toronto office; candidates must be based in Toronto or open to relocating to Toronto and working onsite five days per week.

Salary: C$150K–C$200K plus equity.

What you will do

• Design and own the analytics layer of the data platform, including scalable data models and transformation pipelines.
• Define canonical company metrics, analytical frameworks, documentation standards, and metric governance.
• Build dashboards and analytical tools that help leadership monitor performance and make business decisions.
• Unify data across growth, product, lending, finance, credit, and operations into a reliable analytics layer.
• Analyze lending performance, borrower outcomes, underwriting results, and operational workflows.
• Partner with leaders and data engineering to translate business questions into reliable analytical solutions and improve data quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics, or a related technical field.
• 6–10+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or advanced analytics.
• Deep expertise in SQL and large operational datasets.
• Strong experience designing analytical data models and transformation pipelines, with proficiency in Python for data analysis and processing.
• Experience building leadership dashboards and decision frameworks and translating business questions into scalable analytical solutions.
• Ability to work onsite five days per week in the Toronto office, either as a Toronto-based candidate or after relocating.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, lending, financial services, or international education.
• Experience analyzing loan portfolios or credit datasets.
• Experience with GraphQL systems, API-driven data pipelines, Metabase, or similar BI tools.
• Experience building an analytics platform from scratch at a startup.
• Experience mentoring analysts or helping grow a data function.
