TL;DR
Data Analyst II (Fraud) (SQL/Python/Fintech): Building fraud models, dashboards, and risk metrics for global money-transfer products with an accent on fraud detection, customer verification, and reducing false positives. Focus on analyzing large transaction and onboarding datasets, evaluating A/B tests, and developing actionable fraud-control strategies.

Location: Burnaby, BC, Canada; hybrid work with 2–3 days per week in the Vancouver office

Salary: CAD 100,000–125,000 annual base salary, plus equity and additional compensation components

What you will do

  • Analyze fraud data including chargebacks, promotional abuse, scams, and onboarding risk.
  • Build data-driven fraud models, dashboards, and risk metrics to monitor exposure and system performance.
  • Collect, normalize, and analyze legacy data, transaction logs, and onboarding-system data to identify trends and anomalies.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Business Management, and Compliance to improve customer verification, KYC, KYB, and compliance workflows.
  • Design and evaluate experiments and A/B tests to measure fraud-control effectiveness and reduce false positives.
  • Provide actionable insights that influence fraud-detection strategies, tools, and automation.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in analytics or fraud/risk analysis, preferably in fintech, e-commerce, or digital payments.
  • Experience with fraud or trust analytics and fraud taxonomies such as chargebacks, identity theft, scams, onboarding risk, and promotional abuse.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, engineering, economics, or another quantitative discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency with SQL and hands-on experience analyzing large datasets.
  • Ability to define business problems, develop hypotheses, perform analysis, and communicate clear recommendations.
  • Strong data storytelling and communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Python, R, or statistical modeling.
