TL;DR
Technical Training Specialist (Nuclear): Designing and delivering technical and safety training for operators, technicians, and plant staff using the Systematic Approach to Training and ADDIE model, with an accent on regulatory compliance and adult learning. Focus on developing blended and e-learning courses, evaluating learner performance, maintaining LMS records, and leading complex training deliverables across multiple experience levels.

Location: Oak Ridge, Tennessee, United States; 5 days a week in office, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm. Travel: 10%.

Salary: $60,500–$84,800 for Level II; $87,300–$102,900 for Level III; $96,500–$115,500 for Level IV, annually.

What you will do

  • Develop technical and safety training with subject-matter experts using procedures, P&IDs, and other technical information.
  • Design self-paced, instructor-led, blended, and e-learning courses, including learning objectives, tests, and performance evaluations.
  • Teach operators, technicians, and plant staff in classrooms, workshops, laboratories, simulators, and on the job.
  • Improve training programs using course evaluations, learner feedback, and adult-learning best practices.
  • Maintain accurate training records in the Learning Management System and coordinate course scheduling and logistics.
  • At Level IV, lead small groups, solve complex training challenges, and provide guidance to junior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field, or at least five years of experience in a nuclear, chemical, or safety training environment in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience developing training for a highly regulated industry is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in a technical or operational setting is preferred.
  • Level II typically requires 3 years of general experience; Level III, 5 years; Level IV, 10 years.
  • Ability to work full time onsite in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, 5 days per week.
