TL;DR
Senior Avionics Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and integrating flight computers, sensors, power systems, and communication interfaces for high-performance aerospace vehicles with an accent on hardware-in-the-loop testing, battery sizing, and flight-ready system reliability. Focus on defining component interfaces, supporting ground and flight testing, solving root-cause issues, and providing technical leadership across avionics and flight systems.

What you will do

  • Lead the architecture, design, and selection of avionics hardware, including flight computers, sensors, power systems, and communication interfaces.
  • Define and implement interfaces between flight computers, sensors, actuators, power systems, and radios.
  • Develop and maintain hardware-in-the-loop test environments for software development, integration, and verification.
  • Own battery sizing and power system analysis, including load analysis, margins, thermal considerations, and mission profiles.
  • Support system integration, ground testing, flight testing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers, author technical documentation, and provide technical leadership and mentorship across avionics and flight systems teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in avionics or aerospace electrical systems engineering.
  • Experience designing or selecting flight computer hardware and implementing interfaces between flight components.
  • Strong experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing, system integration, battery sizing, power budgets, and power system design.
  • Experience creating and reviewing schematics, wiring diagrams, interface documentation, test plans, and verification reports.
  • Strong troubleshooting, systems-level thinking, cross-functional collaboration, vendor coordination, and technical communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with DO-160, DO-254, DO-178, or similar aerospace standards.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and buses or protocols such as CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, or MIL-STD-1553.
  • Experience supporting flight test campaigns or environmental testing, including vibration, thermal, and EMI/EMC testing.
  • Background in UAVs, space systems, eVTOL, missiles, launch vehicles, or experimental aircraft.
