TL;DR
Senior Avionics Electrical Engineer (Aerospace): Designing, testing, and integrating custom avionics electrical systems for hypersonic ground-test and flight vehicles with an accent on GNC systems, power distribution, RF communications, and control and instrumentation systems. Focus on system-level architecture, cross-disciplinary device integration, environmental qualification, flight testing, and troubleshooting complex electrical hardware.

What you will do

  • Design, test, and integrate custom avionics electrical systems for ground-test and flight applications.
  • Develop and integrate GNC systems, electrical hardware, control software, power distribution, and RF communications.
  • Ensure subsystem and system-level compatibility and seamless integration.
  • Create control and instrumentation systems for engine, structural, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Work across engineering disciplines and support flight and ground test campaigns, including short-notice travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience across electrical hardware design, control systems, instrumentation and signal conditioning, digital communication buses, analog design and simulation, power electronics, or harness design.
  • Experience with embedded design, device integration, verification and validation, environmental qualification, or flight testing.
  • Experience with avionics devices and protocols such as RS-485, ARINC-685, FPGAs, GPS, INS, and D38999-style connectors.
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills, with a hands-on approach to engineering work.
  • Must meet U.S. export-control requirements as a U.S. person or be otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, SPICE, and Ansys.
  • Experience with Altium Designer, Siemens NX, Teamcenter, Capital Harness, and Git.
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards including IPC-620, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, MIL-HDBK-516C, MIL-STD-464D, and DO-160G.
  • Experience with DC power systems, including batteries, motors, and generators.
