Senior Software Engineer 1 (Node.js)

Location: New York, NY — hybrid in-office three days per week, with remote work allowed up to two days per week

Salary: $150,000–$175,000 annually

hirify.global develops Picksy, a product discovery platform connecting shoppers with products across thousands of retail partners.

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable, highly available services, APIs, integrations, and operational monitoring functions.
• Build and evolve foundational services supporting Picksy across data, web, and mobile experiences.
• Own production services end to end, including troubleshooting, bottleneck resolution, reliability improvements, and cost reduction.
• Lead architecture discussions, identify and prioritize technical debt, and establish shared engineering practices.
• Lead code reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate with quality-assurance engineers on feature testing and automated test coverage.
• Translate user stories and stakeholder requirements into technical designs, documentation, and implementation plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant industry experience.
• 5+ years of relevant professional technology experience.
• Deep understanding of REST, service architecture, monitoring, horizontal scalability, and highly available production systems with SLAs.
• Extensive experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS; knowledge of Java and GraphQL.
• Experience deploying production services to AWS or GCP using containers, continuous integration, and infrastructure as code.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases, graph databases, indexing, distributed locking, media transformation, and search technologies such as Elasticsearch or Solr.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with HTML/CSS and frontend frameworks such as Vue or Nuxt.
• Experience working in an Agile environment and estimating technical work.
