Staff Software Engineer (Scala/TypeScript)

Salary: $202,500–$274,000 annual base pay, with potential bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the architecture and development of critical CK Money banking systems for checking, savings, deposits, transfers, cards, and payments.
• Design scalable, secure, low-latency services and data models with strong correctness, availability, and performance requirements.
• Build and evolve Kafka-based event-streaming workflows that keep balances, transactions, notifications, and partner integrations consistent and idempotent.
• Develop GraphQL APIs and cloud-native services using Scala, TypeScript, and Google Cloud.
• Identify, develop, and evaluate AI-powered product features and agentic engineering workflows.
• Lead technical initiatives, design reviews, execution planning, mentoring, quality practices, and integrations with banks, processors, and payment networks.

Requirements

• 7+ years delivering enterprise applications, with strong backend development and API design experience.
• 5+ years designing complex distributed systems at scale.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and/or Scala, or another functional/JVM language.
• Hands-on experience with GraphQL schema design and federation, microservices, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and event-driven systems.
• Production experience with Kafka or comparable messaging platforms, public cloud development, relational and NoSQL data design, and high-volume data pipelines.
• Experience integrating and evaluating AI in production, including LLM prompting, tool or function calling, agentic workflows, and model-accuracy measurement.
